15th March - there's something fishy going on...

In Literacy, we have been continuing our learning about poetry and writing list poems based on Clare Bevan’s Queue for the Zoo poem. We explored how poets use exciting verbs to make their writing more interesting and help the reader imagine the animals moving. The children thought carefully about different zoo animals and chose verbs to describe their movements, such as “slither like a snake”, “stomp like an elephant” and “swing like a monkey”. The children enjoyed performing their ideas aloud and using actions to match the movements. We are looking forward to publishing our own zoo poems and sharing them with the children in Reception.

In Science, we have continued our learning about animals, with a particular focus on fish. The children were excited to observe the real features of fish closely and discuss what makes a fish different from other animals. We identified and named different parts of a fish, including fins, scales, gills and tails, before drawing and carefully labelling them. The children asked thoughtful questions and showed great curiosity during our investigations.

Thank you to those who were able to attend the presentation. Please check the school website for Mrs Brady-Turner’s presentation if you were unable to make it.
