27th March - 'Hoppy' Easter!

It has been a very busy and exciting week for Year 1! We were lucky enough to be treated to a wonderful performance by our choir club. It was truly amazing and inspirational to see and hear all their hard work come together. The children performed with great enthusiasm and confidence, and we were all very proud of them. Well done, Choir Club!

We also took part in our sponsored move this week. The children began by attending an assembly where they learned all about the importance of the event and who it is supporting. This was followed by a fun and energetic KS1 sponsored move session, where everyone took part with great enthusiasm and determination. It was fantastic to see the children so engaged and active. A big thank you to everyone who has supported this event by submitting sponsorship – it really does make a difference. Congratulations to Tilly who designed the winning running vest for Mr Sharp to wear whilst running the Manchester marathon, we hope to see the vest in real life soon!

In science, we have been finishing our topic on the senses and the human body. This week, we focused on the sense of hearing. The children took part in a sound hunt around the school, where they listened carefully to different noises and described them using vocabulary such as pitch and volume. They showed great curiosity and really enjoyed exploring the different sounds in our environment.

We also carried out a scent challenge, where the children had the opportunity to smell a range of different items, from cheese and onion crisps to fresh basil. There were lots of mixed reactions – some smells were more popular than others! It was a fun (and sometimes slightly whiffy!) way to learn more about how our sense of smell works and how our noses help us to identify different scents.

As we come to the end of the half term, we would like to say a big thank you for all your continued help and support. It has been a wonderful term full of learning and progress, and we are very proud of all the children.

We hope you all have a lovely and restful Easter break!
