Friday 15th May - Excellent Exercising
What a fantastic week of learning we have had in Year 2!
In Geography, we explored the fascinating topic of erosion and discovered how coastlines can change over time. We focused particularly on the beaches in the UK and looked closely at how Brighton beach has changed throughout history. The children really enjoyed comparing seaside photographs from the past and spotting similarities and differences. This has made everyone even more excited for our upcoming Seaside Day on Wednesday 20th May – we cannot wait!
In Science, we learnt all about keeping our bodies healthy. We discussed what makes a balanced diet and thought carefully about the different foods our bodies need to stay strong and healthy. We also talked about the importance of exercise and learnt how much physical activity children should have each day. The children shared lots of fantastic ideas about healthy habits and ways to look after themselves. They then created a plan to change the school field to add some resources that will help keep us active. The children came up with ideas such as trampolines and fitness parks.
In RE, we explored the idea of belonging to a community and discussed what it means to be part of different groups, such as our family, school, clubs and local community. We had some thoughtful conversations about how being part of a community can make us feel supported, happy and included. The children showed great maturity in their discussions and worked brilliantly together, listening carefully to one another’s ideas.
Have a gorgeous weekend all,
Mrs Clewley
