Friday 1st May - Times tables and more!

This week in Year 2, we have been working incredibly hard on our times tables and division. I have been super impressed with the children’s hard work and commitment to practising and memorising their 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables. They have shown fantastic determination and are becoming much more confident with their maths skills each day.
In Literacy, we have been exploring the wonderful book How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth. The story is all about instructions, so we have been learning about imperative verbs (bossy verbs), command sentences, commas in a list and expanded noun phrases. We are now leading up to writing our own sets of instructions about how to wash our chosen animals, and the children are full of brilliant ideas!
In PE, we have been learning a range of cricket skills, and I have been so impressed with how quickly the children have picked them up. We have also been practising our athletic skills in preparation for Sports Day and the children have shown excellent teamwork and enthusiasm.
Finally, rehearsals for our class assembly are well underway, and we cannot wait to perform it for you all on Friday 8th May at 9am.
Have a lovely long weekend everyone!
