DT week and trip to the National Gallery!

What a great week year 5 have had to end the term!
This week, in DT we have deigned and made Anglo Saxon brooches.
We began by researching brooches over time, starting with the Bronze age to present day. Then we looked at Anglo Saxon brooches and explored their colour, materials and design. From this, we designed our brooches, carefully thinking about symmetrical Anglo Saxon patterns. Finally, we had great fun making our brooches out of clay.
We had a great time at the National gallery. Our tour guide was fantastic and he helped us to look at artwork and explore the themes and techniques used. We even got to see some artwork that we have studied in class this year, including Vincent Van Gogh and Henri Rousseau.
I wish you all an enjoyable and relaxing break,
Miss Jones
